Modeling Highly Resolved Spectroscopies of Complex Materials

چکیده
We stand at the threshold of a new ’golden age’ of spectroscopic studies of materials for unraveling how charge, spin, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom interact to produce emergent phenomena and exotic states of matter. In this connection, the need for proper modeling of various highly resolved spectroscopies is becoming of critical importance in providing discriminating tests of competing theoretical models and as a rational basis for future experimentation. Here we present an overview of our modeling efforts aimed at obtaining a realistic description of various highly resolved spectroscopies in complex materials with illustrative examples drawn from angle-resolved photoemission studies of the cuprate high-temperature superconductors.

Using a combination of genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm for GEMTIP modeling of spectral-induced polarization data
The generalized effective-medium theory of induced polarization (GEMTIP) is a newly developed relaxation model that incorporates the petro-physical and structural characteristics of polarizable rocks in the grain/porous scale to model their complex resistivity/conductivity spectra. The inversion of the GEMTIP relaxation model parameter from spectral-induced polarization data is a challenging is...

Current and anticipated future research frontiers in magnetism and magnetic materials are discussed from a perspective of soft X-ray synchrotron utilization. Topics covered include dimensionality (including e!ects of spatial dimensions and di!ering time scales), magneto-electronics, structure/property relationships, and exploratory materials, with an emphasis on challenges that limit the unders...
متن کاملTime-domain ab initio modeling of photoinduced dynamics at nanoscale interfaces.
Nonequilibrium processes involving electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom in nanoscale materials are under active experimental investigation. Corresponding theoretical studies are much scarcer. The review starts with the basics of time-dependent density functional theory, recent developments in nonadiabatic molecular dynamics, and the fusion of the two techniques. Ab initio simulations o...

Interface processes strongly affect the performances and efficiency of organic based devices. The integration of 2D materials like graphene in organic devices (for example as electrodes) is expected, on the other hand, to improve the overall device performances. There is a need therefore for a deeper understanding and control of processes like charge transfer (CT) at interfaces between organic ...
متن کاملSpatially-resolved mapping of history-dependent coupled electrochemical and electronical behaviors of electroresistive NiO
Bias-induced oxygen ion dynamics underpins a broad spectrum of electroresistive and memristive phenomena in oxide materials. Although widely studied by device-level and local voltage-current spectroscopies, the relationship between electroresistive phenomena, local electrochemical behaviors, and microstructures remains elusive. Here, the interplay between history-dependent electronic transport ...
